Welcome to Doodle Zoo - a small business with a big heart, founded by me, Jess, when I was just 16 years old. What started as a fun Instagram account for my rescue dog, Dotty, quickly turned into something much more. I began noticing other small businesses sharing their creativity and passion, and I thought, “Why not me too?”
During lockdown, while most people were binge-watching Netflix or baking banana bread, I was sketching product ideas and dreaming of a business that would combine fun, functionality, and personality. Studying for my GCSEs at the time, I came to realise that the traditional academic route just wasn’t for me. Being dyslexic and having ADHD meant school could be frustrating and limiting, but it also made me more determined to carve out my own path.
So I spent the summer researching suppliers, testing materials, and working on designs that would be comfortable, practical, and full of character - just like Dotty. On GCSE results day, I took the plunge and officially launched Doodle Zoo.
Since then, Doodle Zoo has grown into a vibrant brand offering everything from harnesses and leads to collars, bowties, bandanas, and even poo bag holders. Each item is designed by me with dogs like Dotty in mind - making sure they fit well, look great, and feel comfy. I care a lot about how our products are made and how they’re worn, because I know how important it is for pets to feel as good as they look.
But Doodle Zoo isn’t just about dogs. It’s about creativity, community, and showing that even if the ‘normal’ route doesn’t work for you, you can still build something amazing. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or are just discovering us now - I’m so glad you’re here. I hope you love what we’re creating as much as I love creating it.
